Bit2men is about the Black contributions to the digital space

Blacks in AI

The most influential leaders and developers include:

Timnit Gebru: A prominent computer scientist who formerly co-led Google’s Ethical AI team. She is the founder and executive director of the Distributed AI Research Institute (DAIR), focusing on algorithmic bias and the social impacts of AI.

Joy Buolamwini: A researcher at the MIT Media Lab, known as a “poet of code”. She founded the Algorithmic Justice League, and her groundbreaking research on racial and gender bias in facial recognition software revolutionized how the tech industry tests for AI fairness.

Inioluwa Deborah Raji: A leading researcher and Fellow at the Mozilla Foundation who identifies open-source audit tools to protect marginalized groups from algorithmic discrimination. She previously led the development of AI fairness initiatives at Google.

John Pasmore: Founder of Latimer AI, an innovative platform focused on inclusivity. His team built an inclusive LLM tailored to embed rich historical and cultural perspectives of Black and Brown populations, actively fighting the cultural biases often found in mainstream AI models.

Danielle Belgrave: A machine learning researcher at Microsoft Research. She works on developing robust AI models for healthcare intelligence, combining machine learning with human health data to better understand disease progression.

David Blackwell: Honored historically as a foundational architect of artificial intelligence and game theory. His pioneering research into probability and machine learning is so fundamental to the industry that AI hardware leader Nvidia named its advanced computing architecture, the Blackwell platform, in his honor.

Fidji Simo: Serves at OpenAI as the CEO of Applications, where she spearheads the scalability and real-world monetization strategies of AI products, steering the development of widespread AI consumer technologies.
