Democracy doesn’t protect itself.

Today, Americans are facing unprecedented authoritarian attacks on the laws, rights, and institutions that define us. But, together, we can ensure that our democracy endures.

 

Protect Democracy Project is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing American democracy from declining into a more authoritarian form of government. We provide public education about threats to democratic norms and institutions and how the American people can best confront them. We bring together conservatives, moderates, and progressives around a shared goal: strengthening the laws and guardrails that constrain authoritarianism and building a truly representative and responsive democracy.

The Inclusive AI Lab brings artificial intelligence (AI) literacy to the masses, primarily professionals and practitioners who are not technical, non-coders, and have no data or computer science training. All trainings are designed with this in mind and focus on upskilling in AI from a concepts perspective, not math.

Sara Berkai is an Eritrean and British social enterprise founder and STEM educator. She founded the company Ambessa Play. In 2024, she was named to the BBC's list of 100 Women.

Berkai was born in Khartoum, Sudan, to Eritrean parents. When she was a young child, her family fled from conflict in Eritrea and moved to London in the UK.

During her A levels, Berkai attended the University College London (UCL) Widening Participation scheme's "Computer Science Summer School" and learned the Java programming language. Berkai was the first member of her family to attend university. She studied Information Management for Business at UCL then MSc Child Development at the University of Oxford. After graduating, Berkai taught Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects to displaced children in Ethiopia and Eritrea.

In 2020, Berkai founded Ambessa Play, a social enterprise that co-designs DIY educational kits for children which support them to learn about STEM
through play.
