Intolerance and racism have no place in our football. LaLiga always condems and acts upon any case of racist, xenophobic or violent insults and behaviour, both on and off the pitch, fully supporting Vinicius Jr. and any other player that were to suffer these attacks, as we have always done. LaLiga and the clubs will continue to work on eradicating this type of behaviour.

UNITED AGAINST RACISM

Spain’s Football governing bodies being the CSD, RFEF and LaLiga have come together to show unanimous and unmitigated repulse towards any racist  conduct. Under the slogan ‘RACISTS OUT OF FOOTBALL’ and ‘UNITED AGAINST RACISM’, the three organizations have the joint goal of putting an end to racism.

Peel Away Racism™ is THE campaign started in 2016 by the general Barca Foundation to eliminate racism in sport inspired by events on the pitches of Spain and EU League Play.

At that time Spain wasn’t the most racist environment for sport, that title was held by a few Russian teams and a most vociferous team from Israel.

Our inspiration for starting the foundation revolved around fruit being thrown onto the pitch to taunt players from opposing teams. One day an opposing player did something never seen before, while being taunted with bananas, and that was to pick one up, peel it, and begin to eat it.

Over time we’ve learned that it isn’t about the individual player, for their isn’t and shouldn’t be an anti racism icon today because awareness and progresse deem it so. Today we focus on pitching in with professional and amateur competitions and organizations to HELP THEM alleviate the effects of racism in sport, which may be occurring where spectators sit to enjoy a match.
